Road Trip

In maths we had to get into groups of 1-5 and make a Road Trip Plan. We had no budget and could go where ever we want but we where only aloud 5hrs time travelling in the car. (not including the ferry.) My group included Myself,Robyn, Storm, Niamh. I think we did well in are group and managed to finish
ENJOY :)

Predator

This is my predator that I choose for a presentation on a predator.  I did the Red Fox because its a small animal and not many people will think its predator!! After this we had to make a fake predator. I was not fast enough to be able to do this but if you did get round to doing it, it had to have the same characteristics as the animal you choose for your real predator!!
ENJOY :)

First Up Summary

First Up Summary

First up is a story about how Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space April 12 1961.Yuri Gagarin was born on March 9th 1934 and died on march the 27th 1968. Yuri Gagarin was a small man at the height 1.57metres tall. Gagarin was going to travel to space. He was going to orbit around the earth once. They had tested the journey first using animals such as dogs, rats, flies, chimpanzee, etc and now it was time for a human to try. The Spaceship that Gagarin went in was 38 metres high and part of the soviet union Russia. The Spaceship was called Vostok 1.  30 seconds after takeoff Gagarin was travelling faster than the speed of sound. After ten minutes final rocket dispatches. Gagarin was the first human off of earth. Gagarin would go once around the world. Gagarin's job was to stay alive and unharmed. he travelled 320 km above the earth. Gagarin is flying at a staggering speed 28,000km an hour. He was also reporting to a radio station. Gagarin had 8000km before landing and needed to start slowing down so he used his retro rockets to do so. But then something bad happened. two parts of the ship did not  separate probably  sending him spinning for 5 long scary minutes but finally the wires broke and the parts that were joined separated. 108 mins minutes after takeoff he opened his parachute and landed in the countryside. He landed a while away from the spaceship. He noticed a farmer and his daughter standing near him and asked for a phone.

Gagarin became famous internationally and did world tours. A town in Russia renamed a city Gagarin. Gagarin still loved flying but wasn't allowed back into space incase he got injured. But one day when he was flying in a normal plane the plane went out of control and crashed killing him instantly. Why the plane went out of control nobody knows Gagarin is still talked about today.

Election Reflection

This is my election relfection. We had look back on what we had done and if we could do it again what wuld you change. Although I was very happy with what my group did there are some

Election reflection sheet #1

What am I most proud from our election campaign?
I am most proud of winning.

Why?
My group and I worked hard  on our party and tried are best when we were speaking we spoke loud and clear and tried to answer the questions clearly.

What do I think we could have done better?
We could of spent more money towards are advertising and maybe planned our ad better.

How could I have done this?
Maybe we could have planned our ad and then just put it straight onto iMovie instead of have to spend a lot of time editing it. We also could have realised alot more how much money we actually had.

Why did I vote for the party I voted for?
I voted for Pop & Rock because I thought it would be a cool idea to listen to music during assembly or class. I also liked how  they answered all the questions clearly and found a solution quickly right on the spot.

Ad Reflection

This is my ad reflection. For our party we made an ad this is what me and my partner did together.

How did we grab people’s attention right from the beginning?
By being in different Places.

Was our content relevant to our political party policies?
We talked about our policies and our party

How did we give our audience a good idea about what our policies are?
We asked a rhetorical question
How was our ad value for money?
It was good because we got the message across in the video.

What was successful about our ad?
We told the audience in our ad, what we wanted to change.

If we could change anything what would we do differently next time?
Maybe include our more of our policies in the ad, which would make our movie longer.

What skills will I need to improve on to do this?
Take longer on the planning and be constructive with our timing to video.

How Much Water Is Really in Your Bottle?

For Math we wanted to see how much water there really is in a plastic bottle. The steps we went through went through were:
~
1: Decide how much water you want to pour out of your bottle each time.
2: Fill your bottle to the brim
3:Then pour out the measurement that you decided in step one.
4: Then using a rule measure how high your water is.
5: Record your results each time and keep recording you results until you bottle is empty.
~
This is my final result my bottle was curvy as you can see on my graph.

In class this term we have been making a campaign of something we would want to change about the classroom of even the school. We got ourself's into groups of 3 or 4 and decided what we wanted to change. Our party wanted to change the uniforms we got our name from the first the letters of uniform and then thought of a word that started with uni. We designed ads and paid money to put them where we wanted. We had to do a private auction. We had a budget of $500,000 dollars.

Ml's & Height

In Maths we have been learning how much liquid is in a bottle. My bottle said it had 350ml. It actually contained 400ml. The reason the company's do this is so none can complain they didn't get enough water. The steps we went through were: First fill the bottle to the rim. Then pour out 50ml into a container, using a ruler measure how much water is left record your results . Keep recording your results every time you pour out 50ml. After your bottle is empty look at your results see how much liquid was in the bottle to how much there was suppose to be.

Voldermort needs to Grow a Nose

Dear Warners Brothers,
We have all heard of voldemort the world renowned villain. When you think of Voldemort you think of an evil villain with only two holes in his face as a nose. I am here to persuade you why voldemort needs to and should grow a nose.

Smell: Voldemort needs to grow a nose to smell. Without smell he is missing out on a lot. Not only the smell of baking or flowers but not being able to smell also affects your taste. Have you ever tried to eat holding your nose. Your food taste a whole lot more plain. Say you were eating a delicious cookie to him it would only taste like a big mushy mixture in his mouth.
Another problem voldemort faces without having a nose is scaring children. The age range for Harry Potter is 7 and up. Harry Potter is meant to be a family movie. I think the family would enjoy all the magic the thrill but when Voldemort came on the screen it could scare the younger kids because there not use to seeing someone with no nose and would not understand the effects and makeup that go into it making the actor look like that.

My advice for the future is to ask Pinocchio for some advice. Im sure he would gladly help. The advice would pay off and you would have a nose in no time.

Taste
Taste is a very useful sense that we use up to at least 3 times a day and is one of the least known about senses. Taste is one of the 5 senses. All those bumps on your tongue are called papillae almost all of them containing taste buds. Taste buds have very sensitive microscopic hairs that are called microvilli. The tiny hairs send messages to the brain about how something tastes so you can tell if its sweet, sour, bitter, or salty.

Taste buds
The average person has about 10,000 taste buds that get replaced every couple of weeks. As a person gets older some of the taste buds do not get replaced. An older person may only have 5,000 working taste buds and that's why certain food might taste stronger to children than it does to adults. Smoking can also reduce the number of taste buds a person has. Your taste buds send messages to the brain of how the food tastes. When you're chewing the food releases chemicals that then alert the olfactory receptors located at the inside the top of your nose. Then the olfactory receptors and your taste buds work together to tell your what your food tastes like.
 How does your nose help?
Taste isn't just controlled by your tongue your nose also has something to do with it. In the most upper part of your nose are olfactory receptors that have cells that help you smell that then send messages to the brain. Saliva helps with taste if you had no saliva in your mouth the food would not dissolve and you wouldn't be able to taste anything. Interesting Facts The four main tastes that humans have are sweet, sour, bitter and salty. Taste buds are also a sensory organ. Taste buds are also on the roof or your mouth and down your throat. When you burn your tongue your taste buds actually grow back. The difference between taste and flavour is that taste is what your taste buds pickup which are sweet, sour, bitter and salty while flavour is taste and smell combined. Taste is a really useful sense. Without it we wouldn't be able to taste any yummy food and it would all be like a mushy mixture in your mouth.

The Plague

In class we had to pick a disease and do a project on it. I picked the Plague this is my project.

How was it caused ?

The Plague was a infectious disease caused by the Yersinia pestis bacteria which was found in rodents and the fleas that feed off of them. There are three forms of plague. The bubonic plague symptoms are fever, delirium (confusion) and the formation of buboes which are a swollen inflamed lymph node in the groin or armpit, The septicemic plague is a life-threatening infection mostly spread by bites from infected fleas. The last of the three is the pneumonic plague. The pneumonic plague is a severe lung infection and can cause death.

How did they try to Cure it then and what do they do about it Now?
In the 1347 up to 1351 the plague was cured in many strange ways. One being the leeches, that would suck the blood out of you. They would also set fire to peoples houses that had the disease and thats where the poem ring and a rosie comes from.

Ring around the Rosie stood for how the diseased people broke out in a rash on there arms and neck that had a red ring shaped rash with  with a dark center that looked like a rose.
Pocket full of posey stood for how people carried posies to to cover the smell of the dying and dead.

Ashes Ashes people burnt the houses that deceased people lived in to try and stop it.

We all fall down which stands for all the villages and cities with dead and dying people.

Nowadays the plague is treated with medication such as antibiotics. When the plague was occurring in the 1300s curing the patients the doctors would wear a big black coat with leggings, gloves, boots, and a hat made of waxed leather. They would also wear a bird-like beak face mask  That was often filled with a strong smelling objects
commonly lavender. They would also wear  a brim hat with gloves.

What was the plague?
The plague also known as the black death is a bacterial infection that is carried around by fleas or small rodents. The plague lasted from 1347-1351 the plague was estimated to have killed 30%-60% of Europe's population and  reduced the worlds population from around 450 million down to 350-375 million in the  14th century.  There was no cure and was highly contagious. The plague was likely started in asia and traveled through most of the world. In France, Paris it was said to have killed 800 people a day and could not bury them. They carried all of them into massive pits and buried them there.  Most scientists think it was a bacteria that was called Yersinia pestis that actually caused the disease. During the time people thought it was the end of the world. The plague was not actually called the black death until a while after it had passed. People weren't really sure how it was caused backed then but some people thought that bad air was released in earthquakes others thought that the Jews had brought it to kill Christians.Overall the plague killed 75 million to 200 million.
