Haiku Tunnel

Art in Rm10 has be quite unique. We decided we would make Haiku tunnels.
A haiku tunnel is a way of telling a haiku poem in a different way. The tunnel goes inwards creating a reverted 3D look. Each slide has objects coming out of the side and a line of the haiku poem along the top. A haiku poem is a poem that has three line going in a rhythmic pattern 5,7,5. This is my haiku.

Electronics

In electronics we have made small alarms capable of alarming us when one of our snooping siblings are stealing our stuff. My snooping sibling takes my chargers so I will place my alarm in my drawers.
During the making of our alarm we detailed our presentation and eventually came the final result. On my presentation it goes through the details of making the alarm and how it works.

Camp Achievements

After my camp experience at Weka Point I know that I can now:
  • Push my self further

I achieved these goals:   please copy and paste from your list…. NOW explain how you achieved them.

Not to say I wish - I didn't give up as easy as I could have done. Like on the mud slide I went down and my back slammed the water and it stung like crazy and it felt super tight. But just before I went to sit down I remembered that I didn't want to go on saying I wish I had and I jumped back up and continued.

Not to give up till its over - With orientering I keep going trying to keep my energy up and remember that I can sleep later on and to use all my energy now. I put my effort into each puzzle suggesting and trying different things.

I feel great  about Weka Point now because I had a go on everything and even strived for another turn at times.

I used GOTAR when I went with a speedy team for orienteering all of my friends are good runners and always compete well in cross country so I was a bit nervous. I told them that if they didn't want me incase I was to slow but they said to stay with them so I did  and I was happy I did so. It ended up that I want lagging behind and I managed to keep up with all of the so that was a risk. Running with the fast kids.

Some points that could be improved at camp are
The food. I was so looking forward to going home and having a nice delicious dinner. It definitely made me more grateful for the delicious food a home. But that was just the dinner. Breakfast was delicious and it was similar to what I had at home  so that was good. My favorite meal was lunch. It was delicious and if they replaced dinner with lunch and then had something different for lunch it would be great. My favorite meal would have to be the scrummy raps.

The best thing about camp was the mudslide because that was the most enjoyable thing. It didn't have any instructions and you didn't have to wait a million hours for a go. There was one rule feet first and that was it. You didnt have to faff around for ages you just sprint up the hill slide down the slide then repeat.

Anzac Art

This is Robyn and I's art work. We got pictures that represent New Zealand: a kiwi the Nz flag a poppy and a Anzac cookie. We then cut them into the shape of a uniform then hung them up on are paper made washing line.

The War Has Hung Up
Robyn and I thought that when the war was finally over people would be glad to hang their uniforms The uniform didn't have a purpose any more.

Chatterpix

We used our knowledge on Te Reo to speak the feelings written on the sheet.

Movers & Shakers

This is my prezi on Richard Pearce.

KWL

We wrote what we knew about ANZAC and anything we wanted to find out. We started the topic and when we had finished we wrote what we learnt.

Anzacs and Us
What Do I Know?

Name Pippa Allsopp

What do I know about Anzac Day and the Anzacs?
What do I want to know?
What  I have learnt
I know that:
  • The poppy represents Anzac day.
  • We remember Anzac to honour those who died.
  • Anzac is about war.
  • New Zealand was involved
  • It was WWl
  • So many went to war because they wanted to help and give the country pride.
I want to know:
  • Why did the war start?
  • Why did NZ want to get involved?
  • Why did few Maori joined?
  • Why were no women allowed to fight?
I have learnt:
  • Gallipoli is were loads of ANZAC’s died.
  • Their is a place called ANZAC cove in honour of the ANZAC’s.
  • The women’s skin turned yellow because when they worked with the bombs all of the toxic air changed their skin colour.
  • The trench was split into loads of different parts.
  • In the trench the dangerous parts were spent the least time by individual soldiers.
  • There was also a war at the bottom of Turkey> ( The final line)
  • Lots of soldiers wrote diaries.
  • Since they weren't allowed to tell the parents were they were based they would write it on the back of the stamp.
  • It cost the USA more than 10 million dollars when they fought WW1
  • The family would make codes with the soldiers so they could communicate freely.
  • There was a man they would go through all the letters with a black pen and cross out all the details that the soldiers were not allowed to share.
  • Few maori joined because they didn't believe in fighting to solve problems.

Diary Entry

Diary Entry
Walt: Write a Diary entry as an ANZAC soldier would do.

30/6/1915

Dear Family
The trench is squashed. There is not one soldier thats not squashing another. It keeps us warm but it gets the better of us on the boiling. days. I signed up for an thrill of an adventure and thats for sure what i'm getting. I am proud of my decision and I hope you are too. Its nothing like I thought it would be. I am finally starting to appreciate all the clothes washing you did for me. My clothes get covered in blood from rescuing my buddies but no matter how much energy I put into each and everyone of those mourning soldiers, its sometimes never enough!! I stay up at night a cry angry hot mournful tears just wishing it was all a dream. But don't worry about me. You should be proud. I am fighting for my country at the age of 15 you should be smiling a proud happy full of pride smile. We will show them Germans just what we are made of. I can’t wait to come back home and bath. I am one of the lucky ones. No disease, or trench foot and so far I haven't been bitten by one of them nasty rats. So don’t worry.
P.S It would be great if you could send a whole heap ANZAC biscuits over. My mates and I really enjoy them. Thank you my dear mother.

Your beloved son Arthur

Dear Mr O'Rourke

I would like to thank you for helping Nepia house on the fantastic trip to Weka Point. Without having you there the camp might have not gone ahead.
I would like to thank you on behalf of Nepia House for coming along and having fun with the us.

You were one of the few parents that joined in with the kids and when you joined in and played Archery Soft, you saw your arrow zoom past.

You helped all the kids whenever you could and tried your best to get involved in everything.

You were definitely one the favourite parents among the kids. For example when Zhayne had an accident you went for help and made sure someone was on their way. My teacher said to me that you also where always there for extra support and help. So when we were playing in the water you were always on the side lines making sure everyone was safe and happy.

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate what you did and that camp wouldn't be able to go ahead without you.

Yours sincerely

Pippa

The Daily

This is my newspaper version on a recount of camp.I decided to do mine of raft building and my team was called Slippery Rocks. Read it and you will find out more about it :)

Maths in Room 5

In maths we have been learning to use multiple multiplication strategies. Josef and I choice to use this multiplication strategy.
What we did??
We added 9 to 81 to make it a easy multiple of 3.
Then divided 90 by 3 to give us 30.
Then since we added on nine we divided 9 by 3 giving us 3
The we took 3 away from 30 to give us are answer 27.
To check that we timed 27 and 3 which ended up giving us 81.

How does a Pencil Sharpener Work??

How Does a Pencil Sharpener Work??

Image result for pencil sharpener

Plain:
  • Its sharpens in a cone shape
  • Blades scrape of shavings
  • it grows to a point because of the shape of the inside.
  • new pencil

Have you ever had a blunt annoying pencil. If you have you have probably heard of a pencil sharpener. Ever wondered how it works??? Well this is how.

Well you place your pencil inside of the sharpener you probably notice how the pencil shape fits in snug. You have a sharp blade that slides downwards scraping of the outer area of your pencil top. As you twist the pencil the opposite way you twist  the sharpener, the blade works it way down the pencil shaving of the parts of the pencil until it's the sharpness you want.  You then remove the pencil and begin to continue to write.

The pencil sharpener has 3 main parts. The blade, the body, and the nail. The blade scrapes down the pencil making the led become taller and keeping it in that point shape is the body. Most sharpeners have to holes a large one and the average sized one. The body is the second most important part after the blade. But this whole wouldn't work without the nail. The nail keeps the whole thing together, and that's how and what goes into using a pencil sharpener.

Teko Teko

This is my teko teko design. We went through individual stages.
1. We folded the paper into 16ths
2. Then we drew the eyes and mouth in pencil which covered half of the paper.
3.Then we did the body.
4.We then added any designs we wanted through out the teko teko.
I am pleased with how mine turned out.

Marae Feedback

This is my feedback on the marae visit. It includes things like what I found interesting . I included some of my favorite photos. The marae we went to was the Matahiwi Marae and included loads of talented individual carvings.

Te Reo

In class we have been working well on our Te Reo. We were paired up and had to take a picture or a video of us improving in our Maori.
