Diary Entry

Diary Entry
Walt: Write a Diary entry as an ANZAC soldier would do.

30/6/1915

Dear Family
The trench is squashed. There is not one soldier thats not squashing another. It keeps us warm but it gets the better of us on the boiling. days. I signed up for an thrill of an adventure and thats for sure what i'm getting. I am proud of my decision and I hope you are too. Its nothing like I thought it would be. I am finally starting to appreciate all the clothes washing you did for me. My clothes get covered in blood from rescuing my buddies but no matter how much energy I put into each and everyone of those mourning soldiers, its sometimes never enough!! I stay up at night a cry angry hot mournful tears just wishing it was all a dream. But don't worry about me. You should be proud. I am fighting for my country at the age of 15 you should be smiling a proud happy full of pride smile. We will show them Germans just what we are made of. I can’t wait to come back home and bath. I am one of the lucky ones. No disease, or trench foot and so far I haven't been bitten by one of them nasty rats. So don’t worry.
P.S It would be great if you could send a whole heap ANZAC biscuits over. My mates and I really enjoy them. Thank you my dear mother.

Your beloved son Arthur
